1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help us keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand how you use SMAQd so we can improve the experience.

2. Cookies We Use

Essential Cookies

These cookies are required for SMAQd to function. Without them, core features like logging in and staying authenticated will not work. They cannot be disabled.

Authentication session (Supabase): Keeps you logged into your account across page visits. Expires when you sign out or after 7 days of inactivity.
CSRF token: Protects form submissions against cross-site request forgery attacks.

Preference Cookies

These cookies remember your settings so you don't have to reconfigure them each visit.

Theme preference: Stores your light/dark/system theme selection. Stored in localStorage, not a network cookie.
Cookie consent: Records whether you have acknowledged this cookie policy. Expires after 1 year.

Analytics Cookies (Optional)

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage patterns — which features are popular, where users drop off, and how the app performs. Analytics data is anonymized and not tied to your identity.

_ga, _ga_*: Google Analytics identifiers used to distinguish sessions. Expire after 2 years.

You can opt out of Google Analytics at any time by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Error Monitoring (Functional)

We use Sentry to capture and report application errors so we can fix bugs faster. Sentry may set a cookie or use session storage to correlate error events. No personal information is intentionally included in error reports.

3. What We Do Not Do

We do not sell your data or cookie information to third parties
We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies
We do not use cross-site tracking technologies
We do not share analytics data at an individual user level

4. Managing Cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block, delete, or be notified before a cookie is stored. Note that disabling essential cookies will prevent you from logging into SMAQd.

Right to access: Download all data we hold about you from Account Settings → Export Your Data.
Right to deletion: Delete your account and all associated data from Account Settings → Danger Zone.
Right to opt out of analytics: Use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on linked above.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as the platform evolves. Continued use of SMAQd after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We will notify users of material changes by email.
